Meet John Garden – Your A Better Calgary (ABC) Party Candidate for Ward 2

My name is John Garden, and I’m proud to be the candidate for Ward 2 with A Better Calgary Party for the October 2025 municipal election.

My wife Linda and I have lived in the community of Citadel for over 26 years. We raised our two children here, both of whom attended public schools and played in local sports leagues. Calgary has given our family so much and now it’s my turn to give back.

I bring over 45 years of hands-on experience in Alberta’s oil and gas industry, supported by a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Calgary. As a professional engineer, I’ve built and operated an engineering firm managing complex projects across Western Canada and internationally—always with a focus on efficiency, accountability, and results.

I’m also passionate about mentorship. I work with students at both the University of Calgary and SAIT, helping prepare the next generation of leaders in energy and technology. More recently, I’ve been running a freight forwarding and logistics business with my daughter, giving me firsthand insight into the pressures facing small business owners today.

Like many of you, I’m frustrated with the direction of City Hall. Core services are being ignored while our tax dollars are spent on expensive ideological projects. That’s not how a city should be run.
