The A Better Calgary Party is excited to announce the launch of the first stage of our nomination contest to select our candidate for the upcoming Calgary Council by-election in Ward 13.

This comes after Ward 13 Councillor Dan McLean announced last Friday that he is officially running to be the UCP candidate in the upcoming provincial by-election in Calgary-Shaw.

While the Ward 13 by-election may still be some time away, the A Better Calgary Party believes it is vital we start our nomination process as early as possible in order to give our eventual candidate the best opportunity to run a successful campaign.

Therefore, prospective candidates can now request a nomination package or ask questions about the process by emailing [email protected]

The Bylaws and Constitutional documents that will apply to this contest are available here.

The exact timeline of the nomination process will be confirmed and communicated to party members and prospective candidates in the coming days.

The A Better Calgary Party’s by-election candidate will be chosen via a free and fair nomination process through which our local Ward 13 members will decide who they wish to be their local representative.

The 2025 election showed that our party’s system of open nominations is the best way to bring the conservative movement together and avoid vote splitting, and we look forward to doing the same in the upcoming by-election.

If you are a resident of Ward 13 and would like to participate in the nomination process, you can purchase or renew your Party membership here:
